Kinship Center offers in-person classes for both parents/caregivers and professionals, as well as support groups offered in the counties we serve.

Professional Classes

  • ACT – More than 7,000 child welfare professionals have completed ACT – An Adoption and Permanency Curriculum for Child Welfare and Mental Health Professionals, which is recognized as a model curriculum for the industry.

Parent/Caregiver Classes

  • Pathways to Permanence 1: Parenting in Real Life / Family Assessment/Parent Preparation Classes

A 24-hour series of interactive workshops designed to prepare prospective parents to bring a child home through adoption or foster care.

  • Pathways to Permanence 2: Parenting Children Who Have Experienced Trauma and Loss

A 21-hour specialized series of classes designed for foster and adoptive parents, kinship caregivers, and guardians who are parenting children who have experienced trauma and loss as a part of their history.

Support Groups

Kinship Center hosts support groups for parents and youth in locations throughout California. Support groups are facilitated by Kinship Center social workers, therapists, program managers and other professionals to meet the specific needs of client families in Kinship Center programs. Some groups are also open to the public.
